DARWIN KALEOLANI KANEAIAKALA SR.
DARWIN KALEOLANI KANEAIAKALA SR. DARWIN KALEOLANI KANEAIAKALA SR. Passed away on November 3, 2018 in Honolulu. H e was 69. Born August 2, 1949 in Honolulu to Joseph and Alice Kaneaiakala. Raised in Pauoa Valley, he attended Pauoa Elementary, Kawananakoa Intermediate and Roosevelt High School Class of 1967. Drafted by the United States Army, he was a member of the 'All Hawaii Company' and spent his tour of duty fighting in the Vietnam War. Upon his return to civilian life he married Elsie Balgas on April 18, 1970. This union resulted in 3 sons: Darwin "Dukie", Darren "Sumo" and Derrick "Tony". He joined the Honolulu Police Department shortly after until he left and worked for the Sheriff's Department for several years. There was a period in his life where choices he made landed him in Federal Prison. After his release from prison, he found employment with a security company and worked at Kaiser Hospital where he retired just recently after ten years. "Fat", a term of endearment used by family and close friends, loved his music, growing up in a musical family environment. Besides "jamming" with his siblings, he would join his friends for jam sessions and casual gigs. His other love was riding his Harley whenever he had the chance. Of course his greatest love was his family. Besides his 3 sons, he is survived by former wife Elsie, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and brothers Clifford, Wayne and Gregg and sisters Paula and JoAnn. Services will be held on December 28, 2018 at the Kaneohe Hawaii Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 46-117 Halaulani Street, Kaneohe. Visitation 9am, Services at 12pm. Burial to follow at Hawaii State Veteran's Cemetery in Kaneohe.
