Eva Gregson Deibert
Eva G. Deibert passed away November 21, 2018. She was born Eva Sadayo Hamai to parents Sadayoshi and Mary Hamai on Christmas Eve. This was an arranged (or "go between") marriage made between parties from Japan and Hawaii. After Eva's father passed away, her mother married Harry Gregson and Eva and her sister Nora were adopted and their names were changed to Eva and Nora Gregson. Eva graduated from Farrington High School and later obtained her beauty license. She married Ray Perry and had two daughters, Lani Ozaki (John) and Pamela Kaneshiro (Steven). Both Pam and Ray have since passed away. The Perry's being a military family traveled and lived all over the Mainland and were stationed in Hawaii, too. After retiring from the Air Force, the family moved back to Hawaii permanently. Eva later married Paul Deibert who predeceased her. She opened a beauty salon in Aina Haina and, in addition, operated beauty shop concessions at Ft. Shafter, Tripler, Schofield, Hickam, Ft. DeRussy and retired from Hale Koa when she was 80. Eva was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing and eating sushi and noodles. She loved and enjoyed her children, her grandchildren Lori Rickerby (Troy) and Kirk Uemura, and her four great grandchildren and being in the company of her companion Frank Shock. She had a beautiful smile and a strong spirit. She will be missed. Private service held. Arrangements Provided By: Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary LLC
