On Sunday, November 25, 2018, William Horace Dodd, loving husband to his late wife, Carol, and father of two children, Michael William and Anna Laura, passed away at the age of 84. Bill was born on January 8, 1934 in Richmond, VA to William Horace and Myrtle Ann (Clark) Dodd. He graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1959. He received his law degree from The George Washington University National Law Center in 1962. He practiced law in Honolulu from 1963 until his retirement. The majority of his career was as a real estate trial lawyer for Chun, Kerr, and Dodd, which was founded in 1970. His association memberships are as follows: Hawaii State (Member, Board of Directors, 1983-1986; President, 1986) and American (Member, Executive Council, National Conference of Bar Presidents, 1988-1991) Bar Associations; Virginia State Bar; The Inter-Pacific Bar Association. Bill loved and respected his mother, Myrtle, absolutely. He was an excellent brother to Sissy (Esther) and Annabelle. He loved his home state of Virginia. It was there, in college, where he met the love of his life, Carol Sumiko Santoki. They were married in Calcutta, India on December 20, 1961. They returned to Hawaii and created a beautiful, loving home for their children, Michael and Anna. Bill, an accomplished eagle scout, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He enjoyed history and reading. Over his lifetime, he accumulated a vast amount of knowledge of all things. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Myrtle; his sister, Ethel; and his wife, Carol. He is survived by his children, Michael and Anna, and his sister, Annabelle, his cousin, Joseph, and his grandchildren, Keala and Keoho Eckart-Dodd. Services will be held, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Punahou Chapel. Visitation is at 10:30. The service will follow at 11:30. No flowers, please.
