87, died on September 12, 2018. He was born in Honolulu. Celebration of Life Services: 1:00 p.m., January 5th, Pohai Nani Auditorium. Scattering of his ashes: 10:00 a.m. January 6th, at the Elks Lodge. Al served in the U.S. Army, the Department of Agriculture's Foreign Service, the United Nations, and taught ethnobotany at the University of Hawai'i (https://sites.google.com/site/alkealiichock/). He will be greatly missed by his wife, Yona, daughters, Makana, Alana, and Malama as well as his many friends. Donations to the Nature Conservancy in Hawai'i in lieu of flowers.
