Carol Jean Spadinger
76, passed from her loved ones and friends on October 24, 2018 at The Queen's Medical Center, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Carol was born in the midwestern picturesque town of Humboldt, Kansas on September 4, 1942. Carol's life was one of accomplishments, success and love. She earned her license as an X-ray Technician in the early 1960s, and proudly practiced her trade for the next thirty years, enthusiastically coaching her younger peers in learned techniques, perfected throughout her career. All who knew Carol also knew of her big heart, and of her ability to be a second mother and dear friend to anyone and everyone, included in her always expanding sphere of love. Carol's love and dedication to the medical field was present up to the very end, as she donated her body to the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. Carol's selfless act and ultimate gift was typical Carol. Carol was preceded in death by her late parents, Paul Henry Dietrich and Ellie Dorothy Dietrich, her brother, John Jacob Dietrich, and her sister Peggy Ann (late Maurice) Orlando. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Jay John Spadinger of Hilo, HI, her dear sons, Patrick Jay (Kevin Kuretzky) Spadinger of Scottsdale, AZ, and Rodrick Jay Spadinger of Dallas, TX. Carol also leaves behind her loving siblings, Robert Leo Dietrich of Overland, KS, Mary Joan (Thomas) Berenguer of Washington, DC, and Paula Jeanette (John) Smith of Poway, CA. Carol's Memorial Service is being held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), in Honolulu, HI, on January 17, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Carol's family would like to express sincere thanks and gratitude to her caregivers Anne Strand and Josie Agapay, who spent 20 and 17 years, respectively caring for Carol. Carol is also survived by other loving family members and friends. Carol really appreciated the love, joy, and friendship that everyone brought to her life.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
