Age 89, Hilda passed peacefully on December 18, 2018, in Manoa Valley, HI. Born in Kapaa on Kauai island, she graduated from the University of Hawaii, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education, taught at Lincoln Elementary School, and enjoyed hula, singing, and playing piano, gardening, cooking, and attending various UH sporting events with her husband, Dr. Ralph M. Miwa, who preceded her in 1989. The family would like to convey its appreciation to the staff of Manoa Senior Care and her doctors at Kaiser Permanente, for providing Hilda with the best care over the past 6 1/2 years. Hilda is survived by her children Colin (Lianne) Miwa, Lani-Ann (Arthur) Miho, Marie (George) Smith, and several grand- children, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Services: January 16, 2019 at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel, 1330 Maunakea St., with visitation at 5:00 p.m. and services at 6:00 p.m. Burial: January 17, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Casual attire, no flowers please.
