LOURDES B. AKINA Lourdes B. Akina passed away at the age of 85 on June 1, 2018. The cause of death was due to cardiac dysrhythmia. Abraham Akina soon followed, passing away on July 7, 2018 at the age of 90. He died of congestive heart failure and severe pneumonia. Lourdes and Abraham began their 56 year marriage in November of 1961. At the time of their deaths they had been residing in Rancho, Santa, Ilocos Sur, Philippines where Lourdes was born. In 1962 Lourdes Billena Akina began her nursing career in the Philippines. She was employed by Kaiser Medical Center of Hawaii in 1964 until she retired in September of 1997. Abraham Akina's occupation was that of a Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I as well as a Mason/Shriner. Abraham is survived by his sons from a previous marriage; Benton (Lovey) Akina, Edmund (Danette) Akina and Farrell Akina; sister, Mrs. Henrietta (James) Billena along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lourdes is survived by her brothers: Marino, Urbano and Melano Billena; sisters: Ofelia Billena and Julita Avera Laygui (hanai sister). Services for Abraham and Lourdes will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Mililani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation: 10:30 a.m.; Service: 11:30 a.m.
