DR. ARTHUR C. CLOUSEThe family of Dr. Arthur C. Clouse (known by all as Art) join together to mourn his passing on December 20, 2018. Art passed away in his beloved home away from home, Makaha Beach, HI, his paradise where he spent half the year and was already halfway to heaven. Art was born in Somerset, Ohio on October 9, 1934 and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of Arthur C. Clouse, Sr, a steelworker, and Mary Alice McAllister, and is survived by his children Gene Clouse and his wife, Diane, of Fairfax, VA, and their children, Robert, Charlie and JP; son Joe Clouse and his wife Sandy, of Ridgefield, CT, and their children, Lindsay, John and Stephen; daughter Jenny Gardiner and her husband Scott, of Charlottesville, VA, and their children, Kyle, Kendall and Gillian; and son Rob Clouse and his wife Karen, of Roswell, GA, and their children Billy, Chloe and Ellie. He leaves behind his sister Nancy Frankowski and brother Jimmy Clouse and 18 nieces and nephews. A graduate from Pittsburgh's Central Catholic High School in 1952, Art was on Central's state champion basketball team and a stellar student. He worked his way through both undergraduate and dental school at Pitt, driving construction dump trucks to pay for his education. He graduated from dental school in 1959 and soon after married Cathy Orr, then served a two-years as a dentist in the Navy in Parris Island, S.C. before attending orthodontic school on a scholarship at Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey. Art was a member of Longue Vue Country Club for 40 years. He was involved with Pitt's Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, the American Association of Orthodontists, Central Catholic High school alumni organizations, the American Dental Association, and the Pitt Alumni Dental program. Art's legacy will live on in the beautiful smiles he helped enhance for many family members as well thousands of patients. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to your preferred charity in his name. A private memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh.
