EUGENE FUJII, GENE Eugene 'Gene' Fujii, age 86, of Kaimuki, passed away Dec. 20, 2018. Born in Ewa, he graduated from Kaimuki High in 1950. In 1955 he earned a BS in Engineering from Purdue and joined the Army. While serving in Italy he married Mimma Fonti in 1959. He got an MBA in 1967 and returned to Hawaii in 1970. He wed Marie Mau in 1972 and retired from the Army in 1975, then worked for HMSA for 20 years. He was generous, helping many in need and served his community as a mediator for the Justice Center, becoming Mediator of the Year in 1980. His faith was central to his life and he served as Elder and Moderator for Kaimuki Evangelical, continuing to attend the same church for over 4 decades. He is survived by his wife, Marie; children Paola, Val, Greg, and 3 grandchildren. Services will be at a later date. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Cemetery Association
