Janet Eloise Gouveia, born March 1, 1926, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the age of 92 surrounded by her family. Lovingly known as "Granny", she worked for Andrade's Clothing Store before starting the Hula Nani's Dance Studio in 1964, ending with a 35 year run at the Hale Koa Hotel managing the luau and showroom shows until 2009. She loved traveling, shopping, horse racing, gambling, playing bingo, and spending time with her family watching her UH football team. Preceded in death by her husband, Augustine, sister, Matilda Freitas, and brother, Daniel "Sonny" Vesper. Janet is survived by her three children: Augie (Marilynn) Gouveia, Lynda (Donald) Paishon, and Rodney (Nancy) Gouveia; 5 grandchildren: Darcy-Lynn (Jonathan) Gouveia-Ingram, Ryan Gouveia, Michael (Mindy) Paishon, Nicole Paishon, and Christopher Gouveia; 3 great grandchildren: Noah Anthony, Eli Michael, and Caleb James. Services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation: 9:30 a.m.; Services: 10:45 a.m. with lunch to follow. Burial: 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii Memorial Park Cemetery.
