Adele Ma’eha Kapu Muneoka
Adele Ma'eha Kapu Muneoka86, passed away on December 13, 2018 in Honolulu. A lifelong resident of Kahalu'u, Oahu she was the great-granddaughter of Joseph Mokuohai Poepoe and Emalia Keliiholoholo. Their daughter Cecelia Kealoha married an Englishman Robert William Sharpe and it was to their daughter, Cecelia Kaenaokalanipoaimoku and William Puukini Kapu that Adele was born. Part of a large family of 3 girls and 4 boys, she attended St. Ann's and Sacred Hearts before graduating from Benjamin Parker High School in 1950, the same year she married her lifelong sweetheart, George (a retired cable splicing supervisor at HawaiianTel). Together they had five children; competed and taught swing and ballroom dancing for fun. Adele worked as a hostess at the Pikake Terrace in the Princess Kaiulani Hotel, Heeia Lookout Lodge at Ulumau Village, Niumalu Coffee Shop in the Moana Surfrider and at the Ilikai. In her early years for fun she loved to play paiute (a card game) with her family and friends. An avid bowler, she was named the Star Bulletin's bowler of the week in 1966. She had a big heart. She loved her family dearly. And always chose the loving, nurturing, caring path in all she did. She will be missed and will be fondly remembered for her beautiful lei pua kenikeni. Preceded in death by her youngest son, Richard (Dickie) who died in an auto accident at age 15 in 1971. Adele is survived by her husband George (Akira); sisters Cecelia (Ka'ena) Kanamu and Emily Halas; sons George Keoki (Chris Souza); James Isamu (Candice); Alan (Marcelina); Nadine Aiko (Jeff) Davis; grandchildren Jaime Tama, Lauren, Robin, Scott, Adam, Shelley, James Kimo, Kelly and Alan; and great-grandchildren Jonah Isamu, Rose Maeha Malia and Rayne. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. on January 28th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Waikane, Oahu. Funeral mass is at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow. Aloha attire. The family request no flowers, but lei are welcomed. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
