Peter Vernon Herndon
Peter Vernon Herndon, 64, passed away on January 16th surrounded by family after a long struggle with cancer. Peter was born on May 26, 1954 in Chicago, Ill, to Vernon and Louise (Carter) Herndon. He earned an Associates Degree from the Culinary Institute of America and was an executive with Hilton Hotels Corporation for 25 years. His desire to stay in the islands led him to the position of Executive Vice President at Haseko (Hawaii) Inc, and he ultimately started his own hotel and real estate consulting company. He married Cindy (Forrest) Herndon on April 19, 1986. They have 2 grown daughters, Andrea and Megan. Peter had a passion for family, good food, and spending time outdoors. He was a master chef, avid boater, fisherman, and sportsman. He was known for his Caesar salad, dedication to the Chicago Bears, storytelling, and above all his compassionate spirit. Peter was preceded by his father, Vernon, and his mother, Louise. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his two daughters, Andrea and Megan, and siblings, Patricia, Sally, Michael and his wife Johanna. A family service will be held on Kauai. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Culinary Institute of America Scholarship Fund in memory of Peter Herndon at CIAgiving.org.
