PAULA WITHROW HARRIS
PAULA WITHROW HARRIS75, died in Honolulu on January 29, 2019. Born in Norwalk, CT on January 17, 1944, Paula attended Mt. St. Agnes College in Baltimore. She worked at the Library of Congress and later joined the State Department, serving in Vietnam with USAID. Returning to NYC she was employed by American Express before moving to Honolulu, where she began an extensive career in real estate. She began working for Pacific Paradise Development and held sales and marketing positions for a number of companies, including the Lusk Co., Wailuna Townhomes, Ke Kumulani in Aiea (Principal Broker), Waikoloa Condominiums on the Big Island, and was Sales and Marketing Director for both Courtyards at Punahou and later, Harbor Court Condominiums. She was married to the late Ernest "Ernie" Harris and together they established a college scholarship program for deserving students, funded by the Harris Company. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner, taking continuing education classes at the University of Hawaii. Paula volunteered with the Library for the Blind, recording articles for their Radio Reading Service Program. She served on the boards of Catholic Charities and the Honolulu Symphony and was very active with the Newman Center Community. More recently, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her son, Bret Withrow (Dana) and grandchildren, Malia and Parker; former spouse and friend Reid Withrow; stepson, John Harris (Michelle); stepdaughter, Mary Beth Harris Maassen; sister, Carole Mills (James Scott). Services will be held at Newman Center at the University of Hawaii Campus on February 15, 2019 1941 East West Road. Visitation for family from 4:00-4:30; visitation for friends from 4:30-5:30; celebration of life and memorial service at 6:00pm. Paula will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with her late husband Ernie Harris. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newman Center.
