FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Jean Itsuko Hamamoto
Jean Itsuko Hamamoto90, of Honolulu passed away on February 7, 2019. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii and graduated from McKinley High School in Honolulu. As a young woman, Jean travelled on her own to New York City to learn the beautician's art at Marinello Beauty School on Fifth Avenue. She stayed to practice her craft in New York City for a few years before returning to Honolulu. Jean's career included working at Franklin's Hair Stylists, managing Debutante Beauty Salon, starting her own salon, JJ Hair Styling, and then working at Margery's Salon of Beauty in Waikiki. At the request of friends at Kunikiyo Florist, Jean entered the Florists Association's first ever beauty pageant. And she won. Jean loved to travel the world and entertain at home. She was exceptionally devoted to family and friends. Her loving heart, generous spirit and easy laugh will be missed by many for many years to come. Jean is survived by her husband and partner in life's struggles and triumphs, John, daughter Susan Collier (Ross), grandson Ryan Collier, sister-in-law Kazuko Kay Sakata, and nieces and nephews. A public service will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, Friday, March 1, at 3 PM, with visitation beginning at 2 PM. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
