FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

BERNICE “DOLLY” NYUK YIN LYNCH
BERNICE 83, passed peacefully on Feb 23, 2019 in Dane County, WI. She was born in Kula, Maui on Aug 3, 1935 to Kim Seu and Len Kyau Ching, one of 13 children. She graduated from Baldwin High School, moved to Honolulu, and went to work for the Hawaiian Trust Company. She married Dennis Charles Lynch on Oct 11, 1958. The young couple moved to Dayton, Ohio where son Michael was born. Dolly, not wanting to spend another winter in Ohio and homesick for Hawaii, insisted that Hawaii would be a better place to raise the family. They moved back to Oahu, son Steven and daughter Lisa were born, and they eventually settled into their longtime home in Pearl City. Dolly became a stay-at-home mom until Lisa was in high school. Dolly then went back to work for, and retired from, the Bank of Hawaii. Dolly was a great cook and was known for her Sweet Rolls and Banana Cream Pie. To make extra money, she learned how to sew pheasant and peacock feather hat bands from her mother Len Kyau Ching. Her workmanship was exceptional and many of the local entertainers bought and wore her handiwork over the years. She also did a fair amount of traveling, including trips to Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zealand, and numerous trips to Las Vegas. Bernice is predeceased by her loving husband Dennis (2008). She is survived by sons Michael (Beverly, son Brandon Quiocho, daughter Alisa (Leigh) Bender, grandson Aric Bender and granddaughter Christa Bender), Steven (Chrisy), daughter Lisa Pritchard (Tod), and grandson Sean Pritchard. Of her 12 siblings she is survived by sisters Irene Chung and Gertrude Ceballos, brother Eliot Ching, sister Joycelin Chong, and brothers Melvin Ching and Wilson Ching (Betty). Celebration of Life will be on Tues. Mar. 26 at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel. Visitation 9:30 a.m., service 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow. Inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) at 2:00 p.m.
