Robert “Bob” Francis Miller, ESQ
71, passed away peacefully at home in Kailua on February 14, 2019. He was born in Chestertown, Maryland, on January 27, 1948 to John Cosden and Mary Evelyn Miller. As part of a Navy family, Bob moved from coast to coast in his youth before finding a home in Hawaii. He graduated from Radford high school in 1966 and stayed for college, beginning at Chaminade before transferring to the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he graduated with dual degrees in political science and sociology in 1970. Following his passion for political science, Bob started graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, before returning to Hawaii to work for Senator Nadao Yoshinaga and later Governor John A. Burns. He graduated from Georgetown Law School in Washington DC in 1977, then joined the Hawaii State Anti-Trust Division before going on to private practice. Bob pursued many interests, chief among them politics, the outdoors, and world events. An avid reader and a dedicated student of history, Bob loved to debate the nuances of the public good and justice-or anything you ventured to disagree with him about. His love of animals drew him to the sport of polo. An active member of the Honolulu Polo Club, he served as the Circuit Governor for the Hawaiian Islands for the United States Polo Association from 2002 to 2006. Bob is survived and dearly missed by his beloved wife, Stephanie, daughter, Sarah, and son, Stephen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at Saint George Catholic Church in Waimanalo. Visitation will begin a 9am with the service starting at 11am. We will celebrate Bob's life directly after the service at the Honolulu Polo Club (41-1062 Kalanianaole Highway,Waimanalo), joining together to honor the love, passion and tenacity Bob brought to this world. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to the Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii or a charity of your choice. Arrangements Provided By: DIAMOND HEAD MORTUARY
