Wakayo “Wakida” Sekiya
92, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2019 at Island Hospice. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii and was the second eldest of 6 siblings. She moved to Honolulu after marrying her predeceased husband, Etsuro Sekiya, in 1948. Many friends & family will remember her as the cheerful owner of Garden Flower Shop on So. King Street. She was later employed by Watanabe Floral, Inc. She is survived by 2 sons Stephen (Judy) Sekiya of Honolulu & Neal Sekiya of San Diego; 2 grandsons Nicholas Sekiya of Honolulu & Mitchell (Grace) Sekiya of Los Angeles. She is also survived by 2 sisters in Hilo, Emiko "Amy" Hori & Hisako "Helen" (Kiyotoshi) Ozaki. A private service was held on March 9, 2019 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary & she was interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on March 11th. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
