FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Wakayo “Wakida” Sekiya
Wakayo 92, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2019 at Island Hospice. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii and was the second eldest of 6 siblings. She moved to Honolulu after marrying her predeceased husband, Etsuro Sekiya, in 1948. Many friends & family will remember her as the cheerful owner of Garden Flower Shop on So. King Street. She was later employed by Watanabe Floral, Inc. She is survived by 2 sons Stephen (Judy) Sekiya of Honolulu & Neal Sekiya of San Diego; 2 grandsons Nicholas Sekiya of Honolulu & Mitchell (Grace) Sekiya of Los Angeles. She is also survived by 2 sisters in Hilo, Emiko "Amy" Hori & Hisako "Helen" (Kiyotoshi) Ozaki. A private service was held on March 9, 2019 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary & she was interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on March 11th.
