65, passed away suddenly April 11th at her home in Kapolei, HI. She was the daughter of the late John and Dolores Machella of Freeland. Rebecca was a 1971 honor graduate of Freeland High School. After graduation, Rebecca was accepted at East Stroudsburg University where she earned a degree in psychology. She spent her entire life helping people, from troubled teens, to military wives, to those who had emotional or mental problems, and those who were victims of abuse. Her career took her from the east coast to California and ultimately to Hawaii. Prior to her death, Rebecca was a social worker employed by the Dept. of Human Services, Oahu Child Welfare Service. She was preceded in death by her parents, and in October 2018 by her sister LeAnne Brogan. She is survived by her sister Cathy and husband William Hauze, her brother John and wife Mary, her brother Tom and wife Mary Beth, her brother- in-law Gerald Brogan, her brother Mark and wife Iris, and by brother Bryan Machella. Rebecca is also survived by five nieces and five nephews and by her long-time friend Mike Martin. In accordance with her wishes, Rebecca's ashes and those of her pets will be scattered in the waters off the island of Oahu. Donations in Rebecca's memory may be sent to Make A Wish Hawaii, P.O.
