FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

JOHN KEITH TAFLINGER SR.
JOHN KEITH TAFLINGER SR.Passed in peace on Monday April 22, 2019 at his home in Kapolei at the age of 68. He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Allen and Carolyn Amanda Jones (Tuttle) Taflinger; brother, Robert Wayne Taflinger; sister, Pearl Mae Bishop; and sons, Donald Robert and Michael Lee Taflinger. John is survived by his loving wife Anna Nhung Taflinger; sons Johnny (Lynn), Thomas (Sheri); daughters, Anna Fox (Michael), Maria Santiago (Angel), Diane Kockelman (Kimo), Jennifer Napoleon (Kevin), Christina Sapolu (Bill); brothers, Donald (Carolyn) Jones of Hartford City, Indiana, Thomas Allen (Charline) Taflinger of Baytown, Texas, James Bryan Taflinger of Max Meadows, Virginia; sisters, Carolyn Sue Jones Silk of London, Kentucky, and Bille Jean (Bobby) Wyatt of Reidsville, North Carolina. Grandchildren, Brandon, Mariel (Kawika), Christian, Krysten, Dominik, Dylan, Keone, Kayla, Kili, Tessa, Kona, Kaitlyn, Karly, TJ, Kena, Cameron, Kody, and Grayson. Great-Grandchildren, Keanu, Kihei, Kaha'i, Kaycie, and Rayden. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Shortly after his enlistment, John was deployed to Vietnam and stationed in Phu Loi where he met his wife and their love story began. He did two combat tours in Vietnam as a CH-47 Chinook crew member, eventually earning his master aviation badge. During his military service, John earned numerous badges and medals to include a soldier's medal for heroism, a purple heart, and an army air medal. His service to our country ended after 17 years, in which he medically retired with an honorable discharge due to his combat injuries. Services will be held at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Church in Mililani on Wednesday May 8, 2019. Visitation: 9:30am; Eulogy 10:30am; Mass 11:00am light refreshments to follow. Burial with full military honors will be held at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) at 1:00pm.
