Jane Sanae Amaki
JANE SANAE AMAKI 89, passed away peacefully on 24 April 2019 in Waipahu. Jane was born on 26 December 1929, in Waihee to Hatsuji and Matsu (Akagi) Fujimoto. The fourth of four siblings on Maui, Jane graduated from Baldwin High School and then attended the University of Hawai'i, Manoa. She was a track star, played baseball, swam, and met her future husband, the late Satoru "Joe" Amaki, while completing her bachelor's degree in physical education. After marrying her life-long love and dancing partner, Joe, Jane raised an Army family living on the Mainland as well as in France, Germany, and Japan. After Joe retired, they attended golf and Football Bowl tours. Jane loved to entertain family and friends and follow UH games. An avid gardener, Jane arranged Ikebana flowers, played ukulele, and enjoyed dancing to the Tennessee Waltz. Jane is survived by daughters: Susan (Baron) Powell, Olympia, WA, Leslie (David) Swannack, Lamont, WA, and Donna (Kirk) Amaki-Hull, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren: Raymond and Jason Swannack, Brandon and Keira Hull; sister, Winifred Lau, and many nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Borthwick Mortuary, Honolulu, on 20 May 2019 at 12 noon. Inurnment: 3:00 p.m at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Aloha Chapter of Honolulu, Hawaii.
