FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Larry Keiji Tsuchiyama
Larry Keiji TsuchiyamaLarry left us peacefully on the evening of March 26, 2019 after a long battle with Kidney Cancer. Being a graduate of Farrington High School Class of '76, he had a passion for playing his silver trumpet, bowling, collecting Milk Covers with the Hawaii Nostalgia gang and of course, simply loving the game of golf. He received an Associate Degree in Automotive but later switched from grease to bartending. He attended Honolulu Bartending School and started at the Kumu Lounge then later tended bar in the Neptune Lounge, Shogun and Oceanarium Restaurants at the Pacific Beach Hotel where he worked for 28 years. Larry, also, tended bar at the Sheraton Waikiki, Hale Koa and finally the Hawaii Prince Hotel where he help open up The Reef Lounge located in the Lobby. He is best remembered by many for his effervescent smile, his laughter and having the biggest heart. Larry exhibited the true meaning of Aloha that comes only from the depths of his soul. He would go out of his way to help a guest get what they were looking for so they could enjoy their stay in Hawaii. Whether it be a cigar, instant oatmeal for the kids or even getting a game of golf squeezed in, Larry would be there with an extra bag of golf clubs ready to play with you. In 2014, Larry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer which embarked him on a journey like no other. Even with all the treatments, surgeries and medications he endured, he still had a smile for everyone. Larry always believed in having a positive attitude in life and the happiest place to be was Disneyland. Thanks to Vacations Hawaii, Larry always made it a point to visit his family who relocated to Las Vegas years ago and you could always find him at his favorite Buffalo machine at the Fremont. He could tell you stories of how many free spins he would get to win the big one. Larry will be missed by many who were touched by his friendship and love throughout the years. He was truly one in a million. A Hui Kakou (Till we meet again), Larry. You will forever be in our hearts. Larry is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 36 years, Lynne; mother, Agnes; brother, Ivan; sisters, Valerie and Marlo (Jason Sando); nephews Jared and Jalen Tsuchiyama-Sando, Mycole Doi; niece, Maile Tsuchiyama-Sando and Sister-in-law, Schalene Kobashigawa.
