Dr. Grover Julius Liese, 91, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away at home in his sleep on March 11, 2019. He was born August 15, 1927 to Dr. Grover B. and Elsa (Steiling) Liese in Saint Louis, Missouri. Grover earned his undergraduate degree from Washington University in Saint Louis, then attended medical school at Stanford University. During the Korean War, Grover served as a 1st Lieutenant Army medical officer. After the war, he moved to Hawaii to pursue his medical residency at Queen's Hospital and in 1960, he and his new wife Joan (Joyce) permanently moved to Honolulu. Grover was a well respected radiologist during his lifetime career at Queen's Hospital. Grover is survived by his wife Dr. Sally Myers, his children Lisa and Tony, along with his grand children Cameron, Dylan and Max. Grover Liese will be interred at Punchbowl Veterans' Cemetery in a private ceremony on June 13, while a celebration of his life will be held later that day at Waialae Country Club.
