FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Sadae Tagami
98, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died on January 16, 2019, after a short illness. Born and raised in Moiliili, she attended Hongwanji School and McKinley HS. She continued her education at a finishing school in Tokyo, returning before WWII began. During the conflict, she served in the Office of War Information as a translator and broadcaster. She returned to Japan during the Allied Occupation, employing her bilingual skills as a military censor. There, she met and married her husband, Army Lt. Kan Tagami. The couple spent the next three decades in overseas and mainland postings, raising five children, retiring to Mililani until his death. She spent the remaining eight years of her active life in a retirement facility in Honolulu. She is survived by two sons, a daughter, 5 grand- children, and 6 great-grandchildren. She will be buried privately at Punchbowl. Public services will be held at 10am, Saturday, June 15, at Arcadia Retirement Residence. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
