GILMAN PALMER BUDAR 79, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away June 30, 2018, in Dubuque, Iowa. His memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Waikiki Yacht Club. Gil was born September 15, 1938 in Greenfield, MA, son of Richard R. and Dorothy (Palmer) Budar. He married Emily Kirby, (dec.), on June 6, 1959. Gil graduated from Punahou School in 1956, and Tufts University in 1960. He was a real-estate developer, and founded Budar Advertising with sister Valjeanne. He was a winning racer in the Sports Car Club of America. An active member of Waikiki Yacht Club and Hawaii Yacht Club, he successfully raced his Columbia 43 "Encore" and later the Farr 42 "Gerontius." Gilman was proud of his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his children and grandchildren: Dorothy Lee (Jon) Budar-Danoff (Noelani, Gilman, Daniel) of Columbia, MD, Valerie "Lacie" (Tom) Peckosh (Emily, Carolyn, Jacquelyn, T.J.) of Dubuque, IA, Lillian (Gary) Budar-Krukoski of Kingman, AZ, and Ramona "Jamie" (Kevin) Sergent (Nani, Kenzie) of Honolulu, HI.
