Takeo Ike Ikeda, 97, of Wailuku, passed away peacefully in Honolulu on April 20, 2019. He was born on January 4, 1922 in Wailuku. He was the 7th of 9 children; five girls and four boys. Takeo served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Company F, where he fought in France and Italy. After the war, he joined the Maui Telephone Company, where he met his wife, Florence Kaneshiro, who passed in 1989. Takeo was the "Handy Man" for the entire family doing numerous construction and repair work. He enjoyed socializing with his family and war time buddies and was a member of Iao United Church of Christ in Wailuku. He is survived by sister Sharon "Akie" Ikeda, three sons, Glenn (Lynette), Duane (Akiko) and Howard (Pam), 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, Visitation: 10:00 am and Services: 11:00 am at Nakamura Mortuary and Inurnment: 2:30 pm at Maui Memorial Park. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations may be made to Iao United Church of Christ or Maui Nisei Veterans Memorial Center. Arrangements Provided By: Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel
