Luella Nelson Spadaro
February 21, 1918 May 13, 2019 Born Luella Maria Henrietta Nelson to William Frederick Nelson and Anna Block Nelson in Clintonville, Wisconsin. She was married to Joseph E. Spadaro of Rochester, NY for 64 years. They moved to Hawaii in 1962. Luella is remembered as a loving wife and mother who always had a song on her lips. She was a founder of the Sweet Adelines women's barbershop chorus in Hawaii. She also enjoyed sailing with her husband, Joe, to the neighbor islands on their boat with friends and family, eventually setting anchor permanently on the Big Island where the they built their own home in Waikoloa Village, proudly designed by Luella. Luella is predeceased by Joseph (2013) and survived by son John (wife Linda), daughter Mary Lou (partner Bruce) of Honolulu; and nieces and nephews on the mainland. Her family will greatly miss her as will all who knew her. Memorial at Arcadia, 1434 Punahou St, Honolulu, HI, July 7, 2019 at 3:30 pm.
