Bill Tokushi Nakahira was born in Waianae, on January 17, 1931, to Motoichi and Harue Nakahira. After attending college and seminary in Texas, he returned to the islands and began his career in choral music at Leilehua High School. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice, but chose to coach other singers, rather than perform himself. His select choir, known as the Leileihua Singers, performed throughout the state and in choir festivals on the mainland. Over many years he served several churches on Oahu as choir director. He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann "Judy", 2 sons, Mark (Sandra) and Kirk (Tsurumi), grandchildren Samantha, Tod, and Shay, in addition to nephews, nieces and their families. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Pearl City, July 13. Visitation at 4:00 pm; Service at 5:00 pm. No flowers, please.
