94, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, peacefully passed away at home on June 27, 2019. Born in Lahaina, Maui, Grandma Helen, as she was fondly known, had unbelievable inner strength with an outer glow and aloha that befriended and welcomed everyone. Her long life took her from Lahaina, to Hilo, to the strawberry farms in California, to Heart Mountain Wyoming, where she spent 4 years and graduated high school in the internment camp during the war. Once freed, Helen returned to Hilo, where she met and married her husband. In the 1950s, the family moved to Kaneohe, where Helen became a fixture in the community, working at Lin's Supermarket, Dote's Supermarket, Young Laundry, and finally, establishing her own business, Kaneohe Beauty Salon, from which she retired at a spry 80 years old. Her tenacity, kindness, and wide smile will surely be missed. Helen was preceded in death by husband Takeshi Fukuda; son; Dexter Fukuda; brothers: James and Kenneth Aratani. She is survived by Clifford Fukuda (son) and Michele Sasaki, Delton Fukuda (son), Scott "Keshi" Fukuda (grandson), Carlie and Rawlins "Bubba" Fukuda (great grandchildren), Clayton and Lynn Fukuda (son and daughter-in-law), Brandon and Justin Fukuda (grandsons). Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 4:00 p.m. and services at 5:00 p.m. Family inurnment services to be held the following day at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
