ESTHER FUSAE ZAKABI
Our beloved "Nana" passed away peacefully on June 9, 2019 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born January 23, 1936, grew up in Kakaako, lived in Waipahu and Mililani. She was a proud graduate of Farrington High School and retired in 2001 from the IBEW Local Union 1186 Administration Office. Esther touched her world for many years with her amazing cooking abilities. People from various churches, the electrical union where she worked and multitudes of family and friends all enjoyed her delicious creations. Skills that seemed to come so effortlessly for her could easily be overlooked by the joy and happiness all of her appetizers, entrees and desserts brought. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing and other homemaking crafts, but her true passion was the kitchen. In recent times, Esther reinvented her creativity and concentrated on helping everyone who showed interest how to prepare health conscious meals. She did this by holding classes at churches or at her home. She and her husband had a mission to teach people how to live a healthier life when it came to eating. To prepare or cook nourishing meals and to juice fruits and vegetables in a manner that was appetizing and enjoyable. She has left a lasting impression and legacy of love, caring and patience in many hearts she touched over her 83 years of life. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Douglas Shigeo Zakabi; their daughter Gayle (Brian) Kosko and son Carl (JoAnn); grandchildren: Jesse, Amber and Jamin; brother Ronnie (Luanne) Murakami; sister Merle Murakami and hanai ohana Tautiaga and Lydia Faletoi. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, July 22, 2019 Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Visitation: 5:30 p.m.; Memorial Service: 6:30 p.m. Inurnment will be Tuesday, July 23 at 9:30 a.m. at Mililani Memorial Park Section R. Aloha Attire. ~ Forever in our Hearts, We Love You Nana ~
