Age 86, of Honolulu, passed away on June 30, 2019 in Kuakini Medical Center. Born in Kapulena, Hawaii to the late Ushi and Maushi (Uehara) Akamine. Graduate of Honoka'a High School and Cannon School of Business in Honolulu. An insurance underwriter for twenty years, caring for and helping others a lifetime. Pauline will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and creativity. She carried on her mother's tradition of making handmade manju and mochi to the delight of many. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Earl; daughter, Ruth (Tim) Mathison; grandsons, Daniel and John; her sister, irene Hamada; her brother, George (Mitsuko) Akamine; along with many nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5pm on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Kalihi Union Church. Visitation begins at 4pm. Aloha attire. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.
