Doris Lau Ching, 98, of Honolulu, HI, passed away August 3, 2019. She was born in Honolulu on January 31, 1921 to the late Lau Ooi Kee and Chun Mew Ngan. Doris was the third of seven children. She graduated from McKinley High School and Honolulu Vocational School in dressmaking. Doris and her high school classmates were especially close. She has lived in both Singapore and Honolulu. Doris was a wonderful wife, mother & homemaker for her family. Doris attended Community Church of Honolulu. She was involved in University Extension and Kaimuki Youth League with her husband Raymond Y.C. Ching. Mah Jong and poker were two of her favorite past times. Doris is described by her family as independent, creative, outspoken and single minded. She will be greatly missed. Doris is predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond Y.C. Ching. She is survived by her children Raymond T.L. Ching (Carolyn), Michael T.S. Ching, and Eric T.C. Ching (Yon Suk), her 3 grandchildren Natalie, Lorilee, and Victoria, and 4 great-grandchildren Samantha, Kristina, Elena and Jarrett. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday Aug. 22, 2019 at Diamond Head Mortuary. Visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 11:45 a.m., and burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Punchbowl.
