12.5.46 - 7.24.19 Bruce was born in Los Angeles to Robert and Soledad Lagareta. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and moved to Hawai'i in 1969 to attend UH Manoa, earning his Masters in Public Health, with a focus on family planning and population studies. However, his gift for design and eye for aesthetics led to a successful career in construction, spanning 30 years. He then launched East of Java, an interior design and furniture company, merging his love of travel and design. Bruce continued his work in public health throughout his life by volunteering countless hours both locally and internationally for organizations such as Planned Parenthood and Meals on Wheels. Bruce is remembered for his gregarious personality, outrageous sense of humor, loyalty to those he loved, and his passion for motorcycles, cars, and music. He is survived by wife, Wendy; daughter, Koalani; grandchildren, Hoku and Kanoa; and his brother, Roland. A private family celebration will be held. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
