FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Kimiko Hanta Higa
Kimiko Hanta Higa91, passed away on July 13, 2019 in Honolulu. She grew up on a papaya farm in Kaaawa with her sister Tamiko, and her brothers, Masu and Carl "Haruo". She married Harry Y. Higa, an architect, who grew up in Honomu on the Big Island. She worked as a registered dietician at Hale Nani, Leahi Hospital, and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children where the residents and patients loved meal time because they got to eat delicious local food that was made from her recipes. She later worked at Straub Clinic where she helped patients learn what and how much to eat in order to achieve optimum health. While working as the only independent registered dietician in Hawaii, she became friends with Marcia Germaine of Germaine's Luau because they rented adjacent offices. She eventually agreed to work as VP for Germaine's Luau. Ironically, the all-you-can-eat luau contradicted what she told her patients and anyone who was overweight to do, which was to "eat in moderation." She helped her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends in so many extraordinary ways throughout their lives. We will remember and miss her forever. She is survived by her children, Tami, Mairi and Mario, and her grandsons, Jason, Max and Tony. A private Celebration of Life will be held.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
