FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

LOKAI “KAI” KATIE KEKAUOHA
LOKAI 61, of Kunia, passed away peacefully August 3, 2019. She was born November 20, 1957, in Pauoa Valley to Henry "Hank" F. Mendonca and Libby "Tutu" K. Baker. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Walter Hokunani Kekauoha; her sons: Ka'ipohanohano (Lehua), Kaleleonamele; her daughter Mahealani Kauwela; 5 grandchildren; her sister Carol (Vernon) Rosa; her brothers Kahalelaukoa (Mary Maunupau decd.), Kukunaokala (Deedee), Kauinohea (Jernell); sister-in-law Wanda (Bob); and many extended family members and friends. Two of her beloved brothers, Henry Jr., and Robert, predeceased her, as did her beloved mother and father. Lokai was the heart and soul of the Kekauoha family and, with her mother Libby and sister Carol, the whole Mendonca clan. Her delightful and creative spirit added joy to everything: Pauoa Valley Halloweens, Mokuleia family adventures, Baker Family reunions. A talented artist, she found expression in photography, graphic design, lei-making (giving away hundreds, even thousands), painting, baking, gardening, and hula. At Hagadone Printing, after 35 years of industry change, she retired as a Digital Press Operator and respected colleague. But nothing gave her more joy than her family, and a chance to cheer them on. We are heartbroken to lose her, but so grateful to have had her in our lives. Please join us in a Celebration of her Life Saturday, August 31, 2019, 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Anchor Church, 45-815 Pookela St, Kaneohe, HI 96744.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
