ELSIE T. DEWEESE May 16, 1919 ~ August 8, 2019 Elsie Takami Deweese passed away on August 8, 2019 in Largo, Florida where she had lived for the past 23 years. Elsie was born in Honomu to Tsuneji and Sasae Takami. She was the eldest of 4 daughters. She was an elementary school teacher at Waiakeawaena Elementary School in Hilo and was an active member of the Church of the Holy Cross where she sang in the choir. Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter R. Deweese. She is survived by daughters: Sherry Lynn Wexler, Amy Leigh Rennie and Mary-Lou Owen; son Garen; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and sisters: Emi Kuniyuki, Rei Hamano and Sumi Mizushima. She is loved dearly and she will be missed.
