FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Eleanor “Nora” Barbara Yarnell
Eleanor 76, of Kapolei, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2019. Nora was born in Honolulu to parents Bonifacio Celoza and Loretta Barlan. She grew up in Pauoa and later resided in Kailua, Pahoa, Hawaii Kai, Waipahu, and Kapolei, making close friends along the way and loving them dearly. She retired from Bank of Hawaii and was a gifted pianist for choirs at Blessed Sacrament, Sacred Heart, and St. Jude Catholic Church for a combined 60 years. She loved making Halloween crafts and custom-made Barbie dolls for gifts. Nora and late husband, Bob, created the "Yarnell's House of Horrors", a free event for the community in the 70's-80's, held in the garage of their Pauoa home which drew thousands each Halloween night. Nora loved to cook ono dishes prepared with love. She was the heart of her family, loved unconditionally, and took great joy in making others happy. Her generous, loving, gentle, and sweet spirit will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by husband, Robert "Bob" Yarnell of 43 years, son, Daniel "DJ" Yarnell, parents, and brothers Rusty and Harrison Celoza. She is survived by her children, Lance (Genny) Akana , Rodelle (Amy), Brandi (Lia), and Blanche (Lenra) Yarnell, Jeff Leu, and Venessa (Keone) Meinel, brothers, Boni, Jacob, Jimmy, and Tyrone Celoza, sisters, Patricia Higa, Isabel Asuncion, Mary Mailo, and Jaqueline Guinto, stepmother, Hermie Celoza, hanai siblings, Eric Brown and Ernest Ahue, 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, hanai children, and her 3 fur babies (Dakota, Sophia, and Bailey). Services, Friday, September 27, 2019 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, Visitation: 4:30 p.m. Service: 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Mass: 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
