FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

JOHN KOJUN OSHIRO
CPA, Mechanical Engineer, Navigator (SAC), flight instructor. (August 26, 1934 -April 7, 2019) Age 84, passed away in Oakland, 4/7/19. Sixth of seven children. Predeceased by wife USAF Captain Miriam Basler: mother (Kotsu); father (Kamei); and sister Ruth Tamanaha (Seigi). Surviving Siblings Janet Kikue (Tsuneo, deceased) Tamashiro, Jane Shigeko Otoshi (Morris, deceased), James Kiichi (Henrietta, deceased), Irene Setsuko (Kiyoshi, deceased) Sakima; Raymond Shigeru (Karen). He is a 1952 graduate of Leilehua High School: a student leader from the 7th grade through his Senior Year; National Honor Society; quarterback in football. He received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University; flew as a navigator for the SAC KC-135; Master's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas. He earned his CPA. After all of their Air Force postings, John and Miriam settled San Francisco, halfway between her home state Maryland and his beloved Hawaii. Miriam and John had their special family on the mainland. John loved to fly, earning a flight instructor status. He and Miriam loved to take friends and relatives in their Cessna. They flew cross country numerous times. He eventually retired from corporate accounting. A Memorial Service was held in Oakland with his high school classmates, golf buddies and relatives in El Cerrito. A family memorial was held August in Hawaii.
