FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

WILLIAM TAU GREIG
WILLIAM TAU GREIGOn August 9, 2019 our Dad, Papa, Gramps, Uncle and dear friend, William Tau Greig, was called to heaven. He is encircled by Mom, Ama, Grandpa, Uncle Jimmy, Aunty Tuila, Jesus Christ, Mother Mary and all the Angels and Saints. He was born on Maui to James Greig and Annie K. Hart-Greig, the middle child between Jimmy and Tuila. Growing up in Lahaina on Front street, life was spent at the beach and making toys with friends, riding bike, and elementary school at Kamehameha III. Ama, our grandma, was his teacher, role model & 1st Love. Later the family moved to Fleming Road where we all enjoyed mangoes under the mango tree & eating boiled pipipi's from the ocean down the street. Dad adored Jimmy & followed in his footsteps playing football, basketball, track & field and music. Dad came to Kamehameha on Oahu in the 7th grade, as a border and excelled in sports, Glee club and ROTC. His life long friends from c/o '55 are among his best. Dad was stationed in Japan for 2yrs. and played volleyball and football for the Army. He found a Karaoke-Hawaiian music bar and restaurant there and made a lifelong friend in Akio Nemoto. Dad married Margaret E.P. Freitas, c/o '58, in 1961 and real life began when the 4 of us came along. He began a career at Hawaiian Telephone Co. as a lineman then a lineman supervisor. They offered an early retirement deal and Dad took it, he was 55. He liked creating and now had time to perfect his wood craftsmanship skills. His new "job" was sharing his love of Hawaiian music. He had a following of many dear friends, Kamaaina and Malihini. His two passions, his grandchildren, Mom, family, friends and ice cream were most important and enough. As he always said, "What a Life!" Please join, Sheri Pudgy LaCount, Kimo (Jaylene) Greig, Tracy (Tony) Stull and Keoni Greig, 9 Grandchildren and 18 Great- grandchildren in His celebration of Life on Sat., Oct. 5, 8-12noon. at Kamehameha Chapel - Kapalama. Lei welcome. Tau and Els' inurnment is at Valley of the Temples, Mon., Oct. 7, at 10a.m.
