July 26, 1971 - August 5, 2019 Lara Ethel Payne was born Lara Ethel Hoover on July 26, 1971 to Leola C. Lorenzen, M.D. and Rex Kerry Hoover. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Lara graduated from Grant H.S. and Portland State University (PSU). In July of 1998, Lara married Trenton Payne. After graduating from PSU, Lara began working in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), most recently with Weston Solutions in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lara was happiest exploring new cultures with her husband and soul mate Trenton and traveled throughout the world. She was especially fond of Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. She lived in Indonesia as a young adult and in Tonga 2007-2009, while in the Peace Corps with her husband. Her work and enjoyment of tropical climates took her to Honolulu, Hawaii where she lived with her husband from 2003 until her passing. Lara died peacefully in her sleep the morning of August 5, 2019. She is survived by her husband, brothers, Kenton A. Hoover and Kevin B. Hoover, their spouses and her nieces and nephews, father and loving relatives in Roseburg, Oregon and Anacortes, Washington.
