LEILA HATFIELDLeila Hatfield, of Hawaii Kai passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and friends on September 18, 2019 at the age of 61. Leila is survived by her husband, Tim Hatfield; her sisters Faye, Ging and Eden; her brothers Oting and Dori. She is predeceased by her parents Dominador and Purificacion Gonzales; her sisters Tessie and BB; her brothers Alan, Eddie and Henery. Leila was born on September 18, 1958 in Illog, Negros Occidental, Philippines. After graduating high school, she moved to Michigan where she received her Nursing degree. In 1997, Leila moved to Hawaii and worked as a nurse at Straub Hospital on Oahu. She then transferred into the private sector and provided in-home care for many patients. Leila enjoyed traveling with her husband, Tim, playing golf and trying different foods. In 2011, Leila was diagnosed with cancer. She endured multiple treatments at Kapi'olani Medical Center and Straub Hospital. Leila was a true warrior and inspiration to many others battling cancer. In 2012, Leila was featured in Kapi'olani Hospital's Wall of Hope exhibit which shared her story in order to inspire others. She also attended American Cancer Society's Relay for Life events at Magic Island to show her support of many others battling this disease. The family would like to give their warmest aloha to everyone at Kapi'olani and Straub who cared for Leila and became family over the years. Leila, you are loved by many and will be missed dearly. Services to be held on Friday, October 25 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 5919 Kalaniana'ole Highway. Visitation at 9:30am and services to follow at 10:00am.
