JOHN HOOK LEONG YOUNG
93, of Aiea, passed away at Queen's Medical Center on October 7, 2019. He was born in Honolulu to Yong Yew and Ching Sai Ing on April 8, 1926. He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1945 and attended the University of Hawaii. He married his beloved Madeline, whom he met at the Moana Hotel, and together they had one son, John. In 1985, he retired from the City & County of Honolulu where he served as Mapping Supervisor in the Real Property Assessment Division. In retirement, he dedicated his time assisting his son with his CPA practice. He was an active member of the See Dai Doo Society and served on its Board of Trustees. Has was an avid coin and stamp collector and enjoyed golfing and traveling with family and friends to Australia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and throughout the United States. John always made himself available to anyone needing his help. He enjoyed sharing meals and stories with family and friends, especially his grandson Jack who will always lovingly remember him as Gung Gung. He is survived by his son John (Shari) Young and grandson Jack. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Betty Young. He is predeceased by his wife Madeline, his sister Mary and his brothers Harold, Charlie, Wallace, George and Jimmy. Private services.
