February 17, 1923 - September 30, 2019 Victoria Vienna Ventula Cale, age 96, with a smile on her face she was kissed by an angel on September 30, 2019 where she passed away peacefully at home in 'Aiea. Victoria was a beautiful, kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her life long love of 77 years, Pearl Harbor survivor, Sterling R. Cale; Son Sterling V. Cale (Eiko); Daughter Estralita V. C. Hoover; grandchildren Sterling R. Cale II (Karen), Charles T. Hoover II, Saundy V. Cale (JaNeen), Michelle J. Hoover; great-grandchildren, Mikayla K. Lancaster-Hoover, Sterling J. Cale, Cameron V. Cale; Hanai great-granddaughter McKenzie M. "Cale" Phillips; siblings, Erdworth S. Ventula, Isabella R. Chong, Beatrice G. Galton, and Eleanor C. Stafford (Edwin). Born on February 17, 1923, at Ewa Plantation, Territory of Hawai'i, she was the third eldest of eight children born to Teodoro and Isabella Ventula. After graduating from Farrington High School in 1941, she worked as a secretary for Libby McNeil, where she met and married Sterling Cale on December 12, 1942. In 1945 after the couple had their first child, Sterling V. Cale, she accompanied by her sister Beatrice moved to Rock Island, Illinois. In 1946, she gave birth to her daughter Estralita V. C. Hoover. Upon returning to Hawai'i they lived at Schofield Area V and opened Doc's Country Club in Ewa Beach. Due to her husbands military assignments the family then moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington where she became "The Island Missile Queen" and was known for her delicious pies. They later moved to Presidio of Monterey, California for a short time before returning to Hawai'i and then to Fort Ord, California. In the summer of 1969 she joined her husband in Hawai'i and they purchased their home on Halawa Drive. She then left for Thailand to be closer to her husband who was on assignment in Vietnam. She lived there until 1972. She also went to Belgium to see her third grandson Saundy Victor Cale. A few months later she finally returned home to Hawai'i. Throughout the years she worked as receptionist for Law and Wilson Architectural and Drafting Firm, a reservation manager at Mark Thomas Inn, and as a hostess for McDonalds of 'Aiea. Of all her roles in life, she most enjoyed being a wife and mother. She taught her family to work hard, be honest, and be good to others. The world is a brighter place because of her. She is loved and cherished by her family and everyone who knew her. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Victoria's legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While in hospice at home, her husband would throw her a kiss and always say, "Sleep well, pleasant dreams, God bless you, I love you, I miss you terribly." Victoria you are loved by many and will be missed dearly. You are beautiful and irreplaceable "Vickie". Please join us to celebrate her life and say goodbye to our beloved Victoria.
