Harold T. Ueoka
Harold T. UeokaHarold T. Ueoka, died on September 1, 2019 at Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 100. Born in Aiea, he witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor and volunteered to serve in the 442nd. He was a member of Headquarters Battery, 522nd Field Artillery Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and received the American Campaign Service, EAME Service, Good Conduct, Asiatic Pacific Service and World War II Victory medals. He served as a longtime secretary to the 522-B chapter of the 442nd Veterans Club. For his service in World War II, in 2015 he was awarded Chevalier of the Legion d'honneur by the Republic of France. He was a quiet and thoughtful man, for whom family and education always came first. He loved sports, and in his youth played basketball and baseball and as an adult enjoyed walking, bowling, golfing and playing in the Ala Moana and Manoa makule softball leagues and the 442nd Golf Club. He assisted in recruiting Hawaii athletes for Arizona State University football. Ever patient, kind and caring, he was a loving husband of 62 years to his wife Jane, and a doting father to his son Les, who, together with his sister, Gladys, survive him. Services will be held on Sunday, November 17th at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation at 10 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. with reception to follow. Arrangements Provided By: Hosoi Garden Mortuary
