FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Raymond Masato Watanabe
Raymond Masato Watanabe83, of Kaneohe passed away doing something he loved freediving for tako in Kaneohe Bay on October 16, 2019. Raymond was originally from Paauilo on the Big Island. Like many of his generation, he moved to Oahu in the 1950s. In his working life, he was a journeyman plumber at Continental Mechanical, worked briefly at Zippy's and the State of Hawaii's Department of Parks and Recreation, and was as a plumbing inspector for the City and County of Honolulu. He was also an avid golfer, hitting three holes-in-one in his lifetime, as well as a bountiful fisherman. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Sue-Ellen. He is survived by a daughter, Rae; a son-in-law, Marty Pickett; two sons, Neil and Nelson Nakama; four grandchildren; a brother, Paul; and a sister, Jean Tung. Services will be at Borthwick Mortuary in the Mauka Chapel on Friday, December 6, 2019. Visitation begins at 10; the service begins at 11. Burial follows on the same day at 2 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park.
