JEFFREY KEATING
JEFFREY KEATINGJeffrey Keating passed away unexpectedly in Honolulu on October 5, 2019. He was born December 13, 1967 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of James and Evelyn Keating. He attended Muhlenberg College in Allenstown, Pennsylvania on a full academic scholarship, where he was an honors student. He received his law degree from St. John's University School of Law in Queens, New York. Soon after law school he moved to Hawaii and served as an investigator for the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission. He then moved to Maui where he was a Deputy Prosecutor for several years, and made many friends in the community, before returning to Oahu to serve as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawaii. On Oahu he met his future wife Kinue; marrying in April 2006. When their daughter Alexandra was born, she became the focal point of a close-knit family, and Jeffrey's enduring pride and joy. Jeffrey is remembered as a wonderful son and brother, a loving and devoted husband and father, a true friend, athlete, and a man of great integrity who dedicated his professional life to the highest traditions of public service. He is survived by his wife Kinue, daughter Alexandra, father James Keating, brother and sister-in-law Mark and Giovanna Keating, and sister Suraya Keating. A private remembrance was held at the Outrigger Canoe Club on October 25th.
