MAPUANA BRUHN KAPANA
91, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019 at St. Francis Hospice surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Honolulu on November 15, 1927. She was a hard worker and a great provider. She was a LPN that served at St. Francis Hospital, Chock Pang Clinic and Tripler Hospital in Labor and Delivery. She was great with her hands in crafts: hand quilting, stitchery, pottery and sewing. She dedicated and assisted many hours in helping others: families in need (caretaking/babysitting), Kaiser High School May Day Program, volunteer usher for Kamehameha Schools Song Contest and as a manual auditor for primary and general elections. She became a great mother, sister, aunt and friend that now holds many jewels upon her crown. She is preceded in death by her husband Abraham Kapana, her parents Jarrett Bruhn and Florence (Lyman) Dawson, brothers Jarrett aka "Baby Brother" Bruhn Jr. and Benjamin Wong and her two sons Duane "Kalani" Dawson and Sanford Kapana. She is survived by sisters Pua'ala Wong and Charmaine Bruhn, sons: Abraham, Jr. (Pam), Leighton (Teresa), Joseph (Susan) and Francis (Momi). Daughters: Kaui DeLoge, Mihala Lee, Michelle Kapana-Baird and Puna Dawson, 27 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Celebration of life: 5:30pm-6:30pm viewing, 6:30pm-7:30pm Mass, on Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Peter and Paul Church. Scattering of the ashes at 8:00am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Kaimana Beach, Sans Souci. Casual attire, no flowers.
