STEPHEN LEE SMITH
STEPHEN LEE SMITHSteve Smith, 51, passed away suddenly on October 16, 2019, of an unexpected heart attack. He was born on March 14, 1968, in Grossauheim, Germany, where he lived until the age of 2 before becoming the beloved and adored son of CDR (USN, Ret.) Gene and Betty Smith of Aiea. He is survived by his grieving parents, his sister Jacquelyn Vaughn (Keoni) of Honolulu, his nephew Hunter Vaughn and cousins in Virginia, Ohio and New York; his best friend Kevin Liggons and many other close friends. His bright and witty Facebook postings brought laughter and cheer to many. From childhood, he adored the elderly. He specialized in end-of-life care to helping memory care patients experience their sunset years with dignity and joy. Before moving to Poulsbo, Washington, he lived in Hawaii where he was raised in Aiea before becoming a graduate of Seabury Hall on Maui in 1986. He will be remembered for his creativity, compassion, generosity of spirit and humor that has left a lasting legacy with the patients, friends and families whose lives he touched. An Episcopal Service and Celebration of Life will be held at Liberty Shores/Harbor House in Poulsbo, Washington on November 15 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hawai'i Parkinson's Association are appreciated.
