Eugene Norman Kam Hoi Luster
Eugene Norman Kam Hoi Luster58, of San Diego, CA joined his sister, Deanna in heaven on 9 May 2019. He was born at the United States Air Force Hospital, Tachikawa Air Base, Japan on 21 January 1961 to Arlene Leong and Gilbert Luster. He grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii and graduated from St. Louis High School in 1979. After attending the University of Hawaii, he moved to California where he held several jobs in computer science technology. His aspirations to become a Future Technologist stemmed from his work for the Dept of Defense where his last job was with R2AD, LLC for eight years. He also worked at DISA where he influenced cloud standardization of NIST and DOD. He had extensive experience as a Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, Systems Administrator, Project Leader, and Instructor. Eugene was known as the Dungeon Master Extraordinaire as he loved playing strategy and computer games especially Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). He spent many years creating games and conducting strategy game workshops in Hawaii and volunteering at Comicon in San Diego running board and D&D games from 1997-2003. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Luster of San Diego and mother, Dr. Arlene Luster (Hanusey), Aunts: Linda (James) Kobatake and Kathleen Leong; Cousins: Paula (Keith), Stuart (Stacy), Skylar, Sierra, Reyna (Neil) and Marla Nakata. He was predeceased by his father, Gilbert Norman Luster and sister, Deanna Mee Yee Luster. On 18 May 2019, a gaming event was observed in his honor at his home in San Diego, CA. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mystical Rose Chapel, St Louis/Chaminade Campus in Honolulu on Saturday, 30 November 2019. Visitation at 9 am, Eulogies 9:30 am, and Mass at 10 am.
