On October 20th, 2019, Florida Damo Piedad passed away at the age of 80. Florida was born on April 24, 1939 in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines to Gorgonio and Eustaquia Damo. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of the East, Manila Campus. On February 14, 1964, she married Pedro Bocobo Piedad. Together, they raised their children, Emmanuel, Emerson, Emerich and Emerald. She shared her aloha and unquestionable love to her ohana. Florida was a resilient person who was often a geographically single mother while her husband deployed numerous times during his 20 years of Navy service. She had the toughest job as a Navy Wife; but with her strong principles and compassionate spirit, her family and friends depended on her ---she was their anchor. These qualities are reflected in her pamilia and as a result, her moral insight and strength of character will carry on for continuing Piedad generations. She enjoyed hosting and took pride in cooking traditional Ilocano food. Florida believed that when a family eats together, they stay together, she found joy in having us home. Her happiness stems from her grandchildren as well as going for walks with her dog, Zoey. Florida's legacy is more than enough, and our appreciation and love will never fade, she was our blessing. Florida was preceded by her parents and five older sisters, Justina, Liberata, Placida, Victoria and Sylvina. She is survived by her husband, four children and her six grandchildren Brent, Samuel, Christian, Nicholas, Brandon and Lillian. A celebration of life will be held on November 30th, 2019 at Valley of the Temples at 10 o'clock. Donations may be sent to Pedro Piedad at 1910 Laukahi St., Honolulu, HI 96821.
